Venable LLP is seeking a Business Development Specialist to join the Marketing team in our thriving Washington, DC headquarters. This individual will implement marketing and business development strategies to meet division goals and manage related business development initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...

  • Assisting with the implementation and management of short- and long-term business development initiatives. Including; planning, implementing and managing new business or cross-marketing initiatives.
  • Developing, implementing and managing individual business development plans for division specific attorneys in accordance with practice group plans.
  • Developing content for event and non-event related marketing materials, brochures, e-mail and other similar formats.
  • Managing the flow of information to our marketing technology teams and maintaining mailing lists as appropriate.
  • Managing and ensuring timely and effective execution of all marketing events, including tradeshows.
  • Researching and developing division pitch materials and responses to RFPs. Ensuring all proposals and content for use with future proposals are tracked and relevant proposals are posted to firm’s intranet.
  • Developing division advertisements, as well as, researching print and online advertising opportunities.
  • Preparing various marketing reports; maintaining spreadsheets for tracking and management purposes; maintaining project lists and event/project plans for all marketing expenses ensuring compliance with budget policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

  • A minimum of three years related experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong attention to detail.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with databases and PC applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of website database/technology, intranet database/technology and mass e-mail distribution software.
  • General understanding of marketing concepts and principles, including the ability to develop, implement and track results of attorney and short/long-term business development plans.
  • Ability to plan, implement, manage and track results of new business or cross-marketing initiatives.
  • Skills to manage large internal and external events from developing theme to post-event analysis.
  • Ability to estimate production times and to oversee production of client/firm mailings, proposals and other marketing materials.
  • Ability to travel to various marketing/firm events/meetings.
