Senior Manager of Associate Recruiting

Venable LLP has an opening for a Senior Manager to oversee associate and legal staff recruiting for our Washington, DC and Tysons Corner, VA offices.  The Senior Manager will be based in our Washington, DC headquarters and will work closely with attorney recruiting teams across the firm to ensure optimal recruiting delivery to support the firm’s strategic hiring programs.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Implementing recruiting strategies for legal staff recruiting, including lateral associates, staff attorneys, summer associates, patent agents and other similar billable roles
  • Coordinating the interview, feedback and offer process for legal staff and attorney hires, providing resources, recommendations and support to attorney hiring committees and teams
  • Providing oversight of the Summer Associate Programs and on-campus interviewing for the Washington, DC and Tysons Corner, VA offices
  • Conducting searches that are compliant with federal and jurisdictional requirements regarding equal employment opportunity, fair pay, federal contractor status, the firm’s Affirmative Action Plan and our commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Overseeing the work of attorney recruiting staff in the Washington, DC office

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of five years of progressive attorney recruiting experience, including conducting lateral associate and other billable position recruiting searches; experience supervising staff
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within all legal compliance requirements related to hiring; understanding of Affirmative Action Plans and experience executing diversity and inclusion strategies
  • Experience working in various applicant tracking and sourcing platforms
  • A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team and providing a high level of professionalism and client service
  • Proactive communication style and the ability to build relationships at all levels within the firm, with law school partners, and candidates
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills; ability to manage competing priorities effectively and coordinate communications and feedback among hiring teams, search firms and candidates
