Practice Group Assistant

Venable LLP is seeking a dynamic administrative professional to join our Washington, DC headquarters. Working closely with the Legal Administrative Assistants and legal staff, the Practice Group Assistant will be responsible for an expanded range of administrative duties to efficiently support our Trademark, Copyright & Licensing practice group.

 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for...

  • Processing expenses, document retrieval, organizing documents and assembling business development materials
  • Assisting with monthly client billing process
  • Supporting legal staff with new business intake, including opening new matters
  • Assisting with management of lifecycle of applications including drafting and sending routine correspondences, and filing formal documents in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Maintaining electronic and physical files

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related administrative support experience; intellectual property experience a plus but not required
  • Ability to effectively utilize various applications and software, including document management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Desire to learn new tasks and technologies
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
