Account Executive II (Collections)

Venable LLP is seeking an experienced and motivated collections professional that will be responsible for developing and administering accounts receivable (A/R) collection procedures for client fees and disbursements in accordance with firm collection policies and initiatives. The Account Executive II will work closely with legal personnel in developing and managing collection programs for clients.

 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for... 

  • Managing collections of assigned client accounts
  • Working with billing attorneys and coordinating collection efforts with clients
  • Developing and implementing collection strategies to achieve established targeted average time for collection
  • Monitoring past due accounts receivable over established guidelines and working in conjunction with Manager, Division Administrative Coordinators and billing and/or responsible attorney to recommend and implement appropriate action to bring accounts current
  • Analyzing firm cash collection system and recommending plan of action for continuing delinquencies and implementing approved actions
  • Reconciling client A/R balances and assisting billing attorneys with client A/R reconciliations. 
  • Monitoring and evaluating billing processes to develop and implement strategies to minimize aging of unbilled time and to limit future accounts receivable delinquencies
  • Requesting credit reports from various credit services to identify clients with credit issues
  • Providing monthly reports on collection progress/status

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or education/experience equivalent required
  • Minimum of five years A/R experience, including collection analysis and  previous experience in developing A/R policies, procedures and controls
  • Computer aptitude; experience using current Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office applications (including Excel and Outlook) and an enterprise accounting system
  • Ability to perform analysis of cash collection system to make recommendations for improvements and develop plans for collecting on delinquent accounts
  • Proactive communication style and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Strong focus on client service and responsiveness
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Self-starter who can manage priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate with other team members across the firm
  • Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team and ability to lead, influence and motivate others
  • Aptitude for continuous improvement, efficiencies and automation
